Yogi government clamps down on criminals, more than 23 thousand rewarded, illegal assets worth Rs 15,233 crore seized


Lucknow, 2 October. To strengthen law and order in Uttar Pradesh and curb organized crime, the police and administration have taken action at many levels under the Yogi government. More than Rs 874 crore 58 lakh was frozen or held in cyber crime cases. At the same time, 23,601 rewarded criminals have been arrested. Under the Gangster Act, illegal movable and immovable properties worth more than Rs 15,233 crore have been seized.

First place in the country in action on cyber crime
To prevent cyber crime, UP Police is operating cyber crime stations in all 75 districts of the state. Along with this, cyber cells and help desks have been established in police stations of all the districts. An amount of more than Rs 874 crore 58 lakh was frozen or held from August 2019 to June 2026 through the cyber crime portal and helpline number 1930. On the basis of these achievements, Uttar Pradesh stood first in the country in the ranking related to cyber crime in March 2026.

Action against criminals, crackdown on illegal properties also
Since March 20, 2017, 303 criminals have been killed in police encounters, while 12,202 have been injured. During the same period, 23,601 rewarded criminals were arrested and sent to jail. Action was taken against 87,835 criminals under the Gangster Act and 995 criminals under the National Security Act. Under the Gangster Act, illegal movable and immovable properties worth more than Rs 152 billion 33 crore (i.e. about Rs 15,233 crore) were seized.

Action also taken against identified mafia and gangs
Action was also taken against 68 mafia and their gang members and associates identified at the state level. A total of 909 cases were registered against them, while 651 people were arrested.
