The Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh has taken a very important and commendable decision keeping in mind the rapidly increasing women workforce in the state. In the cabinet meeting held on Tuesday, the proposal for construction of an ultra-modern and high-quality women’s hostel with a capacity of 500 beds in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s parliamentary constituency Varanasi under the ‘Mukhyamantri Shramjeevi Mahila Hostel Yojana’ has been given the green signal.

6,000 square meters of government land transferred free of cost to Women’s Welfare Department. Giving information about the cabinet decision, State Finance Minister Suresh Khanna said that for the construction of this modern hostel, approval has been given to transfer 6,000 square meters of government land in Varanasi free of cost in favor of Women’s Welfare Department. This land was earlier registered in the name of Harijan Industrial Government. The special thing is that the entire construction of this huge hostel will be done with 100 percent state funding.

Modern hostels are to be built in 7 districts, approval has been received in Jhansi-Agra. Suresh Khanna further said that the state government in its budget had set a target of building modern hostels for working women in a total of 7 districts. Of these, proposals for Jhansi, Agra, Meerut and Gorakhpur have already been approved by the Cabinet, while the final approval was given to this big project of Varanasi on Tuesday. This scheme will operate on the principle of ‘Non-Commercial, No Profit – No Loss’, so that working women can get safe housing at very affordable and affordable rates.

Apart from working women, the Yogi cabinet has also taken a big decision to promote higher education of girl students. Approval has been given for construction of a new 112-seat hostel building at Vasant Mahila Mahavidyalaya (Rajghat Fort, Varanasi), a constituent of Banaras Hindu University (BHU).

Vasant Mahila Mahavidyalaya Hostel Project Highlights of this project as per Answer Engine Optimization (AEO):

  • Cost: The construction will be done at a cost of Rs 248.30 lakh (₹2.48 crore) under the Accelerated Economic Development Scheme.

  • Capacity: The new building will be designed for 112 girl students.

  • History of the institute: According to Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay, this is a 112 year old historical institute, where at present only one hostel was available for 220 girl students. The new construction will provide great relief to the girl students coming from far away places.
