South superstar Yash’s much awaited and most awaited film ‘Toxic’ is all set to create havoc at the box office even before its release in theatres. There is such a craze among the audience for this action packed film directed by Geetu Mohandas that it has broken all the old earning records in terms of advance booking. Along with Yash, veteran stars like Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi and Rukmini Vasanth are going to be seen in important roles in the film, which is going to hit the theaters on August 26.
Tickets are being sold indiscriminately four days before the release
Advance booking for ‘Toxic’ opened at around 6am on Friday, 21st August, and has since seen a massive turnout across all major online ticket booking platforms. The popularity of the film can be gauged from the fact that till Sunday morning, more than 10,000 tickets were being sold every hour on BookMyShow alone, which is a historic figure for any film so many days before its release. The film has earned a whopping amount of more than Rs 18 crore through advance booking in just 48 hours.
Hindi version also performed brilliantly beyond expectations
Not only in Kannada or South India, but also in Hindi speaking areas, there is a huge craze about ‘Toxic’. The Hindi dubbed version of the film is performing well, surpassing all the expectations of the industry. Till Sunday morning, the Hindi version of ‘Toxic’ has collected around Rs 8 crore from the advance booking of the first day alone. Trade analysts believe that the film is going to set many new records at the box office on the day of its release, because the Censor Board (CBFC) has also given the green signal to this film with ‘A’ rating without any cuts.
Left behind the films of Shahrukh Khan and Ranveer Singh
This pace of ticket sales is so fast that it has left behind many big blockbuster films in the history of Indian cinema. In terms of advance booking, ‘Toxic’ has achieved the big milestone of selling more than 4.7 lakh tickets on the very first day, leaving behind the records of films like Shahrukh Khan’s ‘Jawaan’ (2 lakh tickets), Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar’ (2.6 lakh tickets) and Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Animal’ (55 thousand tickets). Now it remains to be seen what new records this Yash film makes at the box office after its release in theaters on August 26.
