Bengaluru, 17 February (HS). Ahead of the second season of the WPL starting in Bengaluru, the Adani Sportsline-owned Gujarat Giants team has announced the start of its preparations for the tournament by launching its jersey on Friday evening.
Gujarat Giants head coach Michael Klinger and mentor Mithali Raj were present at the jersey launch ceremony and presented the jerseys to the team before training in the evening. The Giants will be captained by Australian run-machine Beth Mooney, while Indian all-rounder Sneh Rana is the vice-captain of the team.
In preparation for this season of the WPL, the team has begun their training with great enthusiasm in the orange kit in Bengaluru, popularly known as the Garden City, and their hard work is continuing as they get closer to their first match.
Gujarat Giants will begin their campaign against Mumbai Indians on February 25 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Michael Klinger is the head coach of this team and Mithali Raj is the mentor and advisor. Nooshin Al Khadeer, one of India's most renowned spinners, is the team's bowling coach this season.
“This is a new season of the WPL and we are really excited about it,” head coach Michael Klinger said in a statement issued by the franchise on the sidelines of the jersey launch ceremony. But we have to work very hard to be able to perform well for our fans. We have some plans for our players, and the roles for everyone are also well decided. We expect the players to give their best performance every day. There is a lot to see, and the team is excited about the upcoming season, and we are confident of performing well once things get underway.”
Gujarat Giants mentor and advisor Mithali Raj said, “WPL is a great platform for women's cricket, and the Adani Sportsline team has been tremendous in providing the team with all the support they need for their inaugural match. We have a well-balanced team, with a lot of young and senior players with plenty of experience. And together, we always look forward to doing our best. This is an important season for Gujarat Giants, and I want all our players to give their best in every training session and of course in every match. We want our players to tell themselves what they want, because that's the best way. Make sure the preparation is correct. ,
