WPL: Gujarat Giants set target of 127 runs against Delhi Capitals

New Delhi, March 13 (HS). In the last league match of the Women's Premier League (WPL) on Wednesday, Gujarat Giants have set a target of 127 runs against Delhi Capitals. Batting first, Gujarat scored 126 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs. For Gujarat, Bharti Phoolmali scored 42 runs, Catherine Bryce scored 28 not out and Phoebe Litchfield scored 21 runs.

In this match, Gujarat captain Beth Mooney won the toss and decided to bat first. Marijne Kapp spoiled Gujarat's start by bowling captain Beth Mooney in the very first over. The Gujarat team could not even recover from this shock when Jess Jonassen bowled Daylan Hemlata (04) on the total score of 12. After this, Kapp gave the third blow to Gujarat by bowling Laura Vollwart. Volvaart scored 7 runs. At the end of the powerplay, Gujarat's score was 23 runs for 3 wickets.

On the third ball of the 20th over, Shafali Verma gave the eighth blow to Gujarat by bowling Shabnam Shakeel (01). In the same over, Meghna Singh was also run out on the total score of 122. Bryce hit a four on the last ball and took Gujarat's score to 126 runs in 20 overs. Bryce remained unbeaten after scoring 28 runs. Bryce faced 22 balls during this period and hit 4 fours. Mannat Kashyap along with Bryce returned unbeaten without opening the account.

For Delhi, Marijne Kapp, Minnu Mani and Shikha Pandey took 2 wickets each and Jess Jonassen took 1 wicket.

For this match, Delhi Capitals have made one change in their team, including off-spinner Minnu Mani in place of medium pace fast bowler Titas Sadhu, while Gujarat Giants have not made any changes in the team.
