Worship of Sanatan Dharma is incomplete without Akshat, know which God should not be worshiped

Whenever there is recitation of planetary peace in the house or worship of Lord Ganesha or Vaastu is to be done, then use of rice is mandatory in every puja. It has special importance in worship in Hindu religion. Akshat is used in the worship of God. So find out why this is so important.

This is the reason why the use of rice is special in puja.

  • The color of rice is white. White color is considered to be of Saraswati (knowledge) and Parvati (power – Maa Gauri). Rice is also paddy. Therefore food is considered a symbol of Lakshmi. All three gods reside here.
  • The color of rice is considered to be the planet of Moon and Venus among the planets of sky element. Gods and Goddesses are invoked and welcomed in the puja so that the wishes can be fulfilled. Invoking the energies of the five senses using physical materials symbolizing the senses, planetary energies. Like water – Akshat, sugar (Venus), Roli Kumkum (Mars), honey (Sun), ghee, clove (Ketu), cardamom (Buddha) leaf, betel nut, coconut (Rahu) etc. are used.
  • Rice is considered to be associated with Goddess Lakshmi, planet Venus and the Moon which is a symbol of purity and prosperity.
  • Rice is used while applying Tilak, due to which the aura of the person becomes rich, grand and visible. We apply Tilak to God as well as ourselves.
  • Soma is also mentioned in Rigveda and Samaveda. Reading this leads one to believe that Soma means mind and water. Soma means moon. Its color is white and its symbol is water and rice, which is the factor of your subconscious mind.
  • Keep in mind that only whole rice is always offered in puja. Akshat means food which is not broken i.e. the rice offered in puja should always be whole. If you use rice brought from the market in puja, then check it once.

One should not offer rice even by mistake in the worship of any god.

Rice is considered a symbol of Goddess Lakshmi. But rice cannot be offered in the worship of Lord Vishnu. Therefore, Akshat is not used even while worshiping Shaligram. It is believed that eating rice while worshiping Lord Vishnu is a sin. According to pundits, if you are worshiping Goddess Lakshmi along with Lord Vishnu, then you can worship by applying kumkum on white rice. Therefore, rice is never used in the worship of Hanumanji.
