On the first day of Navratri, Shailputri, the first form of Goddess Durga, is worshipped. Which is the symbol of the moon. By worshiping Mata Shailputri, all the bad effects and inauspiciousness go away. It will be extremely beneficial for devotees to wear yellow colored clothes on this day.

Brahmacharini, Chaitra Sud Beej, 10 April, Wednesday

Brahma means penance and Charini, goddess of practice. Mother has Akshat Mala and Kamandal in her hands. By worshiping Mata Brahmacharini, a person gets the power of knowledge, virtue, passion, concentration and self-control and he does not deviate from the path of his duty. Devotion to Mata Brahmacharini gives the blessing of long life. The second form of Maa Durga is Maa Brahmacharini and there is a tradition of worshiping her on the second day of Navratri. Chandraghanta is the third form of Navadurga described in Hindu mythology. Whose head (hourglass) has the moon. The character is like gold. He has ten arms which have weapons like sword, bow and arrow etc. His vehicle is a tiger. This form of Navadurga is worshiped on the third day of Navratri. Who rules the planet Venus. Worshiping them gives strength and removes all kinds of fears. One should wear brown colored clothes while worshiping Chandraghanta Devi.

Kushmanda, Chaitra Sud Choth, 12 April, Friday

Kushmanda is the fourth form of Navadurga described in Hindu mythology. Kushmanda means evil heat, Kusma – threefold heat. He has eight arms, in which he holds a kamandal, bow and arrow, lotus, nectar pot, rosary, mace and chakra. His vehicle is a tiger. It is said that his sweet laughter created the universe. This form of Navadurga is worshiped on the fourth day of Navratri. Wearing orange colored clothes on Chaturthi Tithi is considered auspicious. By worshiping Mata Kushmanda, all future problems go away.

Skandamata, Chaitra Sud Pancham, 13 April, Saturday

Skandamata means mother of Kartikeya. Karthikeya or Karthik is the son of Lord Mahadev and Uma. He has four arms, he has a lotus in both his upper hands and in the other hand he has the child Kartikeya in his lap and the other hand is in Varadamudra. The lion is his conveyance. The goddess is also called “Padmasana Devi” as she is depicted sitting on a lotus. This form of Navadurga is worshiped on the fifth day of Navratri. Katyayani is the sixth form of Navadurga described in Hindu mythology. He has four arms, he has a lotus in one hand and a sword called Chandrahas in the other hand. The third and fourth hands are in Abhayamudra and Varadamudra. The lion is his conveyance. This form of Navadurga is worshiped on the sixth day of Navratri. Kaalratri is the seventh form of Navadurga described in Hindu mythology. He has four arms, a sword in one hand and a sharp iron ball in the other. The third and fourth hands are in Abhayamudra and Varadamudra. His vehicle is dirty. The character of the goddess is Krishna. Mahagauri is the eighth form of Navadurga described in Hindu mythology. He has four arms, a trident in one hand and a damru in the other. The third and fourth hands are in Abhayamudra and Varadamudra. His vehicle is Taurus, hence he is also called 'Vrisharudha'. The complexion of the goddess is Gaur. This form of Navadurga is worshiped on the eighth day of Navratri. The jewelery of the dress is white hence it is also called 'Shwetambardhara'. Siddhidatri is the ninth form of Navadurga described in Hindu mythology. He has four arms, a mace in one hand and a chakra in the other. There is a conch in the third hand and a lotus in the fourth hand. His vehicle is a lion, but in Mahadansa he is shown sitting on a lotus. This form of Navadurga is worshiped on the ninth day of Navratri. Maa Siddhidatri represents the planet Rahu, whose worship leads to the attainment of intelligence and knowledge. It is considered auspicious to worship wearing purple colored clothes on Navami Tithi.
