Worli hit-and-run fugitive Mihir was hiding in Shahpur, nabbed from Virar

Mumbai: The son of Shiv Sena leader Mihir Shah, who was absconding after the death of a woman in the BMW hit and run case in Worli, was arrested by Mumbai Police on Tuesday. Apart from this, 12 people including his mother and two sisters have been arrested and are being questioned. It is said that other accused had helped Mihir in committing the crime and escaping.

On Sunday morning in Worli, 24-year-old Mihir Shah killed Kaveri Laila (45) by recklessly driving his BMW car and hitting her scooter while her husband Pradeep was injured. Mihir, who fled after the incident, has been arrested from Virar.

According to police sources, Mihir and others were at a resort in Shahpur. From there, Mihir left for Virar without telling anyone in the family. A friend of his was also with him. Mihir did not know that his friend's phone was also under police surveillance. This friend used his phone for only 15 minutes and later switched it off. However, the police searching for Mihir found his location in Atli Jwar. The police team reached Virar and arrested him.

Mihir's mother and two sisters were arrested from Shahpur in Thane rural and brought to Mumbai for questioning. Along with them, 10 other people are also being questioned.

The accident happened when Mihir's politician father Rajesh Shah conspired to help him escape and tow the BMW car. Shortly before the accident, Mihir had gone to a bar in Juhu with his friends on Saturday night. The state excise department has sealed this bar.

Mihir escaped in another car. Mumbai Police formed 11 teams to catch him. There was a possibility of him fleeing the country. OP Police had also issued a lookout circular against him. Mihir's father Rajesh and driver were also arrested in this case. However, Rajesh was granted bail at the time of counting of votes. There was a lot of discussion about the bail of Shiv Sena's Palghar officer Rajesh Shah from Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

Bar sealed in Juhu for violating rules and serving liquor

The legal age for drinking alcohol in Maharashtra is 25 years. The bar manager violated this law and served alcohol to 24-year-old Mihir. An official of the Excise Department said that on the orders of the District Collector, action was taken to seal the bar for violating the rules.

No trace of alcohol was found in the blood even 60 hours after the arrest

Mihir was let off after the accident on Sunday morning. He was then arrested on Tuesday. He was kept in hiding for three days. Even if his blood sample is taken within this period, it cannot be confirmed whether he was drunk at the time of the accident or not. It is being alleged that Mihir's arrest was deliberately delayed.
