Anaconda, often shown in films and books, is considered the largest snake in the world. Whenever the words “biggest snake” are heard, the image of a huge snake roaming the Amazon forests and terrorizing people comes to mind. Therefore it is difficult to imagine that any other snake can replace the anaconda as the largest snake.
The world's largest snake has been found in the depths of the Amazon rainforest. This snake is so big that it can swallow big animals directly. Its length is 26 feet. The name of this snake is Northern Green Anaconda. Wildlife presenter Professor Freek Vonk found it in a remote area of Brazil. Previously, the largest known species of snake was the reticulated python, which averaged 20 feet 5 inches in length.
A video has also surfaced, in which 40-year-old Dutch biologist Professor Vonk can be seen swimming with a giant anaconda. He said, 'Together with 14 other scientists from nine countries, we discovered the world's largest snake species, the green anaconda.'
The green anaconda, found in the tropical regions of South America, was considered the largest snake in the world. Three other species of anaconda have been discovered so far. However, a team of scientists has discovered some facts based on which they claim that green anacondas are actually two genetically distinct species.
The new species, which will now hold the title of the world's largest and heaviest snake, can grow up to 7.5 meters long and weigh up to 500 kilograms. The new species has been named Northern Green Anaconda (Eunectes akayama).
This study was published in the scientific journal “Diversity” only last week. Scientists were able to capture and study some northern green anacondas in the Ecuadorian Amazon. They received help from the local Waorani people, who were well familiar with the forests and water areas.
Anaconda is dangerous
Scientists said that anacondas hide in the water and are ready to hunt human boats as soon as they see them.
