World Dengue Day was celebrated on Thursday by health workers at all the health centers of the district including GNM Hostel Complex, Sadar Health Center located at Sadar Hospital of the district. In this regard, DBDCO of the district Dr. Sharat Chandra Sharma said that with the help of Asha, nurses, VBDS and other health workers, people were given information about dengue prevention with banners, posters and leaflets.
VCDO Dharmendra Kumar told that dengue mosquitoes breed in clean water, hence do not allow water to accumulate around the houses, spray insecticides, use mosquito nets while sleeping at night. Dengue testing and treatment is available in all government PHCs. If a person suspects dengue fever again, immediately contact a government hospital doctor. Kits for treatment and testing are available free of cost in government hospitals. Whenever cases of dengue occur after the rains, At the time of arrival, separate beds are arranged at all the health centers for the convenience of the patients.
On the occasion of World Dengue Day in the same sub-divisional hospital, Dhaka, Deputy Superintendent and Medical Officer in-charge Dr. Sudhir Kumar Gupta, Health Manager Vinay Kumar Gupta and the health workers present told the patients that dengue is spread by the bite of the female Aedes mosquito. Symptoms like high fever, pain in the body, head and joints, red spots or rashes on the skin, black discharge are seen. The platelet count in the patient's body starts decreasing, due to which the patient's condition becomes serious.
While explaining the measures to prevent dengue, health workers said that one should use mosquito net while sleeping. Along with this, use mosquito repellent cream or medicine also during the day. Wear clothes that cover the entire body. Keep all the rooms of the house clean and neat. Do not allow water to accumulate in broken utensils, coolers, ACs, fridges. Do not allow water to freeze in the water tank and other places around the house. Take care of cleanliness around the house and use insecticides.
