The World Chess Federation (FIDE) has released a new rating and it has a direct impact on the ranking of Indian players who won gold medals in the 45th Chess Olympiad. For India, Arjun Arigasi and D. Divya Deshmukh have achieved their career best ratings in Gukesh and Gukesh in the women's category.
Among men, 34-year-old Magnus Carlsen of Norway is at first place and 37-year-old Hikaru Nakamura of America is at second place. India's 21-year-old Arjun Arigasi has secured the third position with 2,797 rating points. He has pushed America's Fabiano Caruana to fourth place with 2,796 points. 18 year old D. from India who will participate in the World Championship next month. Gukesh entered the top-5 for the first time in his career with 2,784 rating points. Among other Indians, Vishwanathan Anand is at 11th, R Praggnanand at 12th, Vidit Gujrat is at 26th.
There has been no major change in the top-10 of the women's category. Chess Olympiad individual gold medalist Divya Deshmukh is at 11th, Kaneru Humpy is at sixth. Harika Dronavalli 14th and R. Vaishali is at 15th place. In the team ranking, India remains at second position in men's, women's and mixed categories.
