Workshop organized for freedom from child trafficking campaign

Gopeshwar, July 03 (HS). A workshop was organized in the auditorium of the Bar Association on Wednesday regarding the Freedom from Child Trafficking 2.0 campaign under the chairmanship of Vinod Kapruwan, member of the Uttarakhand Child Protection Commission. Child trafficking, child helpline, lost children and education of destitute children were discussed in the workshop.

Kapruwan, member of Uttarakhand Child Protection Commission, said that child trafficking is a serious problem. Children are the future of the country. Their safety and protection is the responsibility of all of us. To create awareness in the society, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights has launched a campaign called Freedom from Child Trafficking. For which seven districts of the state have been identified.

He said that the conscious citizens and public representatives of the district should make all efforts to make Chamoli district free from child trafficking and child labour. Parents and society need to be vigilant and aware to stop child trafficking. He asked the police and other related departments to work in coordination for child trafficking and juvenile justice. He said that in case of child trafficking or child exploitation, child labour and child marriage, children getting lost, not returning home, etc., contact the Child Helpline number 1098. During this, dissatisfaction was also expressed over the absence of the labour officer.
