Workshop held to strengthen and develop Chhattisgarh's rural economy – News India Live

Raipur 1 August (HS). A workshop was organized today by Transform Rural India to move forward rapidly towards strengthening and developing the rural economy of Chhattisgarh. On this occasion, the Panchayat and Rural Development Department signed an important MoU with Transform Rural India Foundation on Thursday. The workshop was inaugurated by Niharika Barik Singh, Principal Secretary of Panchayat and Rural Development Department.

In this workshop held at Indian Institute of Management, Nava Raipur, issues related to rural development, environmental sustainability, and social progress were discussed and ideas were expressed on solutions to the challenges related to these. In this discussion, emphasis was laid on promoting rural transformation through climate-sensitive, green development in rural areas. On this occasion, Chief Minister's Secretary Rahul Bhagat, Director of Indian Institute of Management Dr. Ram Kumar Kakani, Joint Managing Director, TRI Anirban Ghosh and Associate Director and State Lead, TRI Neerja Kudrimoti were present.

In the workshop, Secretary to Chief Minister Rahul Bhagat, US Counsel General Mike Hankey, Joint Managing Director, TRI Anirban Ghosh, CEO CEGIS Vijay Pingale and Professor Indian Institute of Management Varsha Mamidi delivered their lectures on promoting good governance for developed Chhattisgarh and implementing coordinated efforts of all departments and units of the government. PCCF Srinivas Rao, Commissioner GST and MNREGA Rajat Bansal, CEO Hindustan Unilever Foundation Shramana Jha, British Deputy High Commissioner Andrew Fleming and Director Swachh Bharat Mission Chandan Tripathi delivered their lectures on promoting climate related actions and technology-based water security and rural livelihood solutions for developed Chhattisgarh.

The MoU with the Panchayat and Rural Development Department and Transform Rural India Foundation aims to accelerate the pace of development in the rural areas of the state and build a prosperous rural Chhattisgarh. This MoU has been signed for 5 years, under which TRI Foundation will collaborate to strengthen various important schemes and programs related to rural development such as Chhattisgarh State Rural Livelihood Mission, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, Panchayat Directorate and State Institute of Rural Development. The main objective of this partnership is to strengthen women self-help groups, Panchayat Raj institutions and local administration, so that various issues present in rural areas can be worked upon effectively.
