Workers and industry complement each other, both have common interests: Labor Minister Patel

Bhopal, 15 October (HS). Under the chairmanship of Labor Minister Prahlad Singh Patel, a meeting of the Board of Directors of the three divisions of the Labor Department was held at the Kushabhau Thakre International Convention Center on Tuesday. In the meeting, Minister Patel said that workers and industry complement each other. Both have common interests. He said that all three boards are running many schemes for the welfare of lakhs of organized and unorganized laborers of the state and their families.

Minister Patel said that the Central and State Governments have made such policies so that poor laborers can get financial help and social security. Through these schemes, workers and their families join the main stream of development and become participants in the development of the country and the state. He said that all three boards should ensure that no labor family is deprived of government schemes.

In the meeting of the Labor Welfare Board, it was decided to extend the benefits of the funeral assistance and ex-gratia assistance scheme run for organized sector workers to the family members of the eligible workers also. Apart from husband, wife and children, it has been decided by all the members of the board to include parents also in the family members. Similarly, it was decided to provide e-tricycles to disabled workers coming under Labor Welfare Board. Board members agreed to increase the contribution rates for workers dues.

In the Sambal Board meeting, Minister Patel described the distribution of benefits under the Ex-gratia Assistance Scheme as the strength of the family. Minister Patel said that the government intends that the labor families should get full benefits of all the government schemes on time. Minister Patel said that there is better coordination between industrialists and workers in the state. Which is the foundation of the economic development of the state. In the meeting, it was decided to run several new schemes for the welfare of lakhs of workers and construction workers in the organized and unorganized sector. In the meeting, it was decided to open Shramodya Vidyalaya at 5 new places in Sagar, Rewa, Shahdol, Ujjain and Balaghat. The decision to open well-equipped labor rest houses in 16 municipal corporations for the residence of migrant workers was also agreed upon. There will now be free registration of construction workers. Also, workers will be able to renew their registration online through the portal.

Board members including Principal Secretary Labor Umakant Umrao, Labor Commissioner Dhanraju S and Secretary of all three divisions Ratnakar Jha were present in the meeting.
