Work of Rs 233 crore sewerage project in Chhindwara in final stage

Bhopal, 24 October (HS). The work of sewerage project in Chhindwara is going on at a fast pace by Madhya Pradesh Urban Development Company under the Urban Development and Housing Department with the help of the World Bank, which is almost nearing completion. The target is to connect 20 thousand 100 houses in the project. Against the target, more than 15 thousand houses have been connected to the sewerage network. The total cost of the project is approximately Rs 237 crore. This also includes 10 years of maintenance and operation.

Giving information on Thursday, Public Relations Officer Mukesh Modi said that for proper disposal of sewage water, a sewerage treatment plant of 28 MLD capacity is being constructed in Sarra area of ​​Chhindwara. Its construction work is also almost completed. To smoothly implement sewerage disposal, 257 kilometers of sewerage lines have been laid. Permanent road restoration work is also nearing completion.

He said that representatives of voluntary organizations have conducted door-to-door awareness campaigns to encourage citizens to get sewerage connections. The result was that the common people were motivated to voluntarily take sewerage connections. Another feature of the project is that the treated sewerage water will also be used for purposes like gardening, fire fighting, and irrigation. A target has been set to start experimental testing of Chhindwara Sewerage Project from the coming month of November.
