Women’s Hockey: Gorakhpur defeated Prayagraj, Kanpur defeated Ayodhya

Lucknow, 19 November (HS). Regional women’s hockey competition started on Tuesday. Three matches were played on the first day, in which the women players sweated profusely. In the first match, Gorakhpur defeated Prayagraj. Whereas Kanpur defeated Ayodhya.

The beginning of the match between Gorakhpur and Prayagraj was very tense. Neither team could score a goal in the first half. In the second half, in the 16th minute, Gorakhpur team took the lead by scoring the first goal. Prayagraj team was still trying to score a goal when in the 21st minute, Gorakhpur team again scored a goal. After this, in the third half also, Gorakhpur team went ahead by 4-0 by scoring one goal each in the 36th and 38th minutes. Neither team could score a goal in the fourth half.

In the match between Kanpur and Ayodhya, both the teams kept sweating and neither team could score a goal in the first half. In the second half, Kanpur team took the lead by scoring one goal. After this, one goal each was scored in the third and fourth half and Kanpur team won the match 3-0. The match between Meerut and Mirzapur was very tough. Neither team could score a goal for two halves. In the third half, Meerut team took the lead by scoring one goal. Again the fourth half ended empty and no team could score a goal. Meerut won this match 1-0.
