Women's Commission seeks report from police

Amritsar: National Commission for Women has summoned action taken report from Amritsar Rural Police in Pinky murder case. This reply will have to be sent to the district police chief including Beas police within two days. It is learned that the case file, photographs of the incident site, arrest of the accused, statements of the victim's family and action taken report are being sent to the Delhi-based National Commission for Women.

According to the information, Pinky, a resident of Bullenangal village under Beas police station, was murdered on Wednesday night. The accused set fire to the house with the intention of destroying the dead body. As soon as the information was received, the police reached the spot and took the burnt body into custody. Pinky's husband Sukhdev Singh was arrested on Thursday afternoon.

However, the accused has also confessed to his crime in police custody regarding the incident. Investigation revealed that accused Sukhdev Singh did not do any business. He was married to Pinky about one and a half years ago. Pinky was six months pregnant at the time of the incident. There was a fight between husband and wife over keeping pigeons in the house and letting them fly.

The accused used to stay in the house the whole day and play with pigeons. When Pinky asked her husband Sukhdev Singh to work and run the house, he got angry. On this the accused beat up Pinky. He was hit on the head with an iron rod. He died due to head injury. From the post-mortem report, the police came to know that Pinky died due to head injury.
