Women's Asian Champions Trophy begins in Rajgir of Nalanda district in Bihar from Sowar.

Bihar Sharif, 10 November (HIST). For the successful organization of the Asian Women's Hockey Champions Trophy on Sunday at Rajgir, a tourist spot under the district headquarters, the Sports Authority took stock of the preparations for the match at the newly constructed Government Sports Academy-cum-Cricket Stadium, Rajgir.

On this occasion, the Indian women's hockey team, which has been recently led by captain Salima Tete, is all set to defend its title in the Bihar Women's Asian Champions Trophy Rajgir-2024.

This tournament will be held at Rajgir Hockey Stadium from 11 to 20 November. In this, teams from Japan, Korea, Malaysia and Thailand will participate along with Paris Olympics silver medalist China.

Under the leadership of captain Salima Tete and vice-captain Navneet Kaur, India will start its campaign against Malaysia on November 11. In recent times, the Indian women's hockey team has maintained an excellent record against Malaysia.

India had defeated Malaysia 5-0 in Jharkhand Women's Asian Champions Trophy Ranchi-2023 and 6-0 in the Asian Games Hangzhou-2022. Earlier, India had defeated Malaysia 9-0 in the Women's Asia Cup-2020.

On this occasion, team captain Salima Tete said, “This is the first time that I am captaining the team in a major international tournament and I am proud of this responsibility. The morale of the team is very good, and we are fully prepared for the Bihar Women's Asian Champions Trophy Rajgir 2024. Our first encounter is against Malaysia, but we know that we have to play as a team and aim to win all the matches. This experience will also help us qualify for the next Olympics. We are fully prepared and it is time to prove that we are capable of defeating the best teams in the world.

India's next match will be against Korea on 12th November. After a day's rest, India will face Thailand on November 14. After this, on November 16, India will face Paris Olympics silver medalist China and the pool match will end against Japan on November 17.

To reach the semi-finals of the tournament, India will have to ensure a top four finish among the six teams. The semi-finals will be played on 19 November, and the final will be held on 20 November.
