Women protesters asked the police a question: They have come now, where were they before?

The hustle and bustle in Sandeshkhali of North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal is not showing any signs of stopping. Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Ajit Maiti was beaten up by villagers on Friday. The video of this incident went viral.

On Friday, villagers demonstrated in Barmajpur village of Sandeshkhali. This area has been tense for more than ten days. To pacify the villagers, South Bengal's Additional Director General of Police Supratim Sarkar and Barasat Range's Deputy Director General of Police Bhaskar Mukherjee arrived with their team. A female protestor told the police officers that we are saying this because of pain.

Why are they (associates of TMC leader Shahjahan Sheikh) entering our houses? They threaten my in-laws. Why do they do this? The police tried to calm the situation and said that they were taking steps to bring the situation under control. The woman in front of him asked, “You have come now, where were you before?” Meanwhile, a team of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) reached Patrapada in Sandeshkhali to meet the victims. The team will reach the spot and try to find out the facts of the alleged violent incidents.
