Women empowered in Poonch through tailoring classes

Jammu, 9 December (Hindustan Reporter). In a commendable effort to empower women in remote areas, the Indian Army has started tailoring and tailoring classes for women in Haribudha village of Poonch as part of its Operation Sadbhavana initiative. The objective of this program is to equip women with vocational skills, promote self-reliance and economic independence.

Ten women have been enrolled in the training sessions inaugurated in the presence of the local Sarpanch who will learn tailoring under the guidance of a local woman instructor. The Indian Army has provided five sewing machines and other essential resources to support this initiative. This project is designed to increase employment prospects for women in this remote area and improve their quality of life.

The inaugural function witnessed enthusiastic participation from villagers, especially women who expressed optimism about the programme. One of the attendees said that this initiative not only empowers women but also promotes social harmony in our community. The villagers expressed their gratitude to the Indian Army and acknowledged their dedication in promoting skill development and supporting the aspirations of women in underdeveloped areas.
