Women celebrated Halashti festival for the longevity of their children | News India

Dhamtari, 24 August (HS). The festival of wishing happiness and prosperity of children, Halshasthi (Kamarchhat) was celebrated with devotion and enthusiasm on 24 August in the district. On this occasion, mothers kept a waterless fast wishing for a long life of their children. They made a 'sagari' (a kind of sweet) and poured water in it and prayed for the long life of their children. Worship was performed at different places throughout the day.

On Saturday, the city and the region celebrated the Halashashti festival with great fervor. Pandits performed the worship with due rituals. Women circumambulated the Sagari pond made for the worship and sang songs. For this, special worship was performed by making Sagari in Mahima Sagar Ward, Mahatma Gandhi Ward, Aamapara, Baniyapara, Rambagh, Rampur, Gokulpur, Tikrapara, Sorid, Bathena Makeshwar Ward, Rudri and other wards of the city. Pashar rice and six types of vegetables were offered in the Sagari and women broke their fast by consuming the prasad. Fasting women Puja Nayak, Premlata Patel, Dulari Thakur, Ranu Deshmukh, Manisha Sahare said that on the Kamar Chhath festival, Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati are worshipped for the long life of children. This tradition has been carried out for years. On this occasion Abhilash Pandey, Neeti Patel, Nirmala Bhesle, Ujjwala Sahu, Kajal Agarwal, Leena Taram, Kamini Goswami, Radha Sinha, Satyabhama Sahu, Rita Yadav, Hitanjali Sahu, Jyoti Sahu, Jhankar Sharma, Swapna Padamwar, Kavita Jachak, Ruchi Singh, Premlata Kunjam, Bharti Yadav, Lokeshwari Kashyap were present.
