Ajmer, 29 September (HIST). The withdrawal of water from Bisalpur dam is now in the final stages. On September 29, only one gate of the dam was opened by only 25 cm. Irrigation Department Executive Engineer Manish Bansal said that for the last 25 days the water level of the dam has remained at 315.50 meters as per the capacity. Since the inflow of rain water into the dam is now stopping, the drainage of water from the dam will also be stopped in a day or two.
Bansal said that on September 6, the drainage of water was started by opening 8 gates of the dam. Since there is sufficient amount of water in the dam, drinking water can be supplied as per the demand in the respective districts for the next two years. According to the information received, 30 TMC water has been withdrawn from the dam in the last 25 days. The water that flowed into Banas river could have supplied water to Ajmer, Jaipur and Tonk districts for the next one and a half years. Even in the year 2022, when Bisalpur Dam overflowed, a large amount of water was drained. Due to lack of sufficient rainfall in the year 2023, the dam could not be filled to its capacity. But this time there was good rainfall so 30 TMC water had to be withdrawn from the dam. No provision has been made in the ERCP project to stop excess water from the dam. According to the information received, there is a provision to bring water to Bisalpur Dam, but there is no provision to store excess water in the dam. When there is good rainfall in this area, Bisalpur Dam gets filled with rain water.
