With the entry of monsoon, preparations to deal with disaster are complete, SDRF has geared up

Dehradun, June 29 (HS). Monsoon has entered Uttarakhand and in the coming days, the entire state will witness heavy rains. Due to this, flood situation will also arise at many places. Uttarakhand SDRF is fully prepared to rescue people trapped in the flood and to deal with other situations.

SDRF commander Manikant Mishra reviewed the preparations for monsoon by holding a meeting with SDRF teams through video conferencing at SDRF Battalion Jollygrant on Saturday. He gave necessary guidelines along with alertness regarding disasters that may occur during monsoon like excessive rainfall, landslides, cloudburst etc.

Currently, along with the Char Dham Yatra, the pilgrimage to the holy pilgrimage site of Sikhs, Hemkund Sahib, is going on in Uttarakhand. Hill stations and tourist places of Uttarakhand are also crowded with tourists. Every year, when disaster strikes in disaster-prone Uttarakhand, there is a lot of difficulty in relief and rescue operations. In such a situation, SDRF is on alert mode in view of the monsoon. 15 rescue teams and 60 sub-teams of SDRF have been deployed across the state.

The commander instructed the SDRF personnel to mark the potential flood-affected areas in the plains. Instructions were given to keep the rescue teams in Haridwar and Rishikesh in Garhwal and Udham Singh Nagar, Nainital and Tanakpur in Kumaon on alert mode with flood equipment. Two teams at the SDRF battalion Jolly Grant battalion headquarters were asked to be kept on alert mode with the necessary equipment for backup. Whereas, nine rescue teams and 26 sub-teams have been deployed in the hilly areas in view of the incidents of landslides and cloudburst. Instructions were given to use satellite phones in areas without communication.

Vigilance and preparedness

All the teams of SDRF are alert and ready. They are equipped with all the necessary equipment and resources so that relief and rescue work can be done effectively with a zero casualty approach. During this time, Deputy Commander Mithilesh Kumar, Assistant Commander Shyam Dutt Nautiyal and Inspector Pramod Rawat, Kavindra Sajwan, Sub Inspector Jaipal Rana etc. were present.

Female constable Shivani and constable Sagar were honored

The commander awarded cash prize to lady constable Shivani Pokhriyal for winning gold medal by securing first position in 57 kg weight category of Judo and Taekwondo in Uttarakhand Police Judo Cluster Competition 2024 held at Police Line Dehradun and to Sagar Singh for securing first position in Wushu competition.
