This question is in the minds of millions of common Indians, because LPG is directly related to the budget of their home. Everyone wants that if the price of fuel decreases, then they should get some relief from inflation. But a pity, currently the prices of LPG cylinder will not decrease.

In fact, in the GST Council meeting held on 3 September 2025, where a big decision to reduce GST was taken on many things, there has been no change in the GST rate on LPG gas cylinder. This means that from September 22, when the new rates of GST are applicable, the domestic LPG cylinder will be charged 5% GST as before. This includes 2.5% CGST and 2.5% SGST.

Not only domestic, but also on commercially used LPG cylinders, the rate of GST will remain unchanged. These will apply 18% GST as before. This is because commercial cylinders are used for commercial purposes such as hotels and restaurants.

So in such a situation, if you were thinking that LPG cylinder will be cheaper due to this big GST change, then at the moment this good news is not for you. However, the general public will get a big relief due to the cut in GST on many other products including food items, clothes, electronics and cars. This decision will affect domestic expenses, but the current price of LPG cylinders will remain.
