Will toll plazas be removed from expressways and highways? Now the government will collect toll tax like this

It is being claimed that people will save time after satellite-based toll collection starts on national highways and expressways. Initially, toll was collected in cash at toll plazas, but this caused long traffic jams, to reduce which the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways started the Fastag system, in which money has to be kept in the Fastag wallet beforehand. When a vehicle reaches the toll plaza, the toll is deducted by checking the balance of the Fastag wallet with the help of Automatic Number Plate Reader (AMPR) cameras installed there, but this system also has many flaws.

There are complaints about Fastag not being scanned: Sometimes the Fastag is not scanned and sometimes the Fastag wallet does not show sufficient balance even if there is money in it, due to which the barriers at the toll plaza do not open and people have to wait for a long time. People have been complaining about this for a long time, so barriers are to be removed from the toll plaza lanes through Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS). This will save people's time at the toll plaza.

Why is this system necessary?

It has become necessary to bring this system because with the increasing road network, the number of vehicles is also increasing rapidly and there are many flaws in the existing Fastag toll collection system, hence its need.

Consulting Experts

In the first phase, trials have been conducted on Dwarka Expressway and other expressways and national highways of the country regarding GNSS, which have been quite successful. Now before implementing this system, consultations are being done with experts working on GNSS technology. Their suggestions are also to be included in it. For this, an international level conference has also been called in the last week of this month.
