No bilateral series has been played between India and Pakistan since 2012-13 and these two teams only clash in the World Cup, Asia Cup or Champions Trophy. In such a situation, there has been talk of playing a series between the two teams many times, but will this planning be successful this time?

The match between India and Pakistan takes place only in the World Cup or Asia Cup.

Pakistan cricket has an old habit of daydreaming. Sometimes the players or former cricketers of the Pakistani team make big claims that they will defeat this team and create a stir, and sometimes the officials of the Pakistan Cricket Board dream that they will trouble the ICC and force it to take decisions according to their wishes. Especially when it comes to the Indian team or BCCI, this thing spreads like a disease in the entire Pakistan cricket (former players and fans too). Something similar is happening this time too. While on one hand the situation is not clear on Team India's participation in the Champions Trophy to be held in Pakistan, on the other hand PCB is trying to play a direct series with India.

There has been no bilateral series between the cricket teams of the two countries since the political relations between India and Pakistan have deteriorated over the past several years. The last ODI series between the two countries was played in 2012-13, for which the Pakistani team came to India. But this was stopped after Pakistan openly supported terrorist incidents in India and now both teams clash only in tournaments like World Cup-Asia Cup.

Will India and Pakistan play T20 series?

The Pakistan Cricket Board is now hoping to resume the series between the two countries. A report says that PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi is soon going to invite the Indian team to play a T20 series. The report claims that Naqvi will meet BCCI secretary Jay Shah in this matter and propose to play a T20 series between the two teams at a neutral venue next year. Top officials of both the boards may meet in Sri Lanka, where they are all going to gather for an important meeting of the ICC. It is believed that the Pakistani board may propose to play this series after the Champions Trophy next year.

Right now all eyes are on the Champions Trophy

Now, for now, it can only be called 'Mungerilal ke Haseen Sapne'. Playing a bilateral series seems to be a distant dream. The first big challenge before Pakistan is to organize the Champions Trophy completely in its country. The biggest question is whether Team India will go to Pakistan for this 8-nation tournament to be held in February-March 2025. The Indian government has not allowed Team India to go to Pakistan for the last several years due to security reasons, due to which last year's Asia Cup was also organized in Sri Lanka apart from Pakistan. Now the same fate seems certain for the Champions Trophy as there is no hope of change in the attitude of the Indian government at the moment.
