Will the stock market really be closed on Monday? There will be no trading in NSE-BSE on Ganesh Chaturthi on 14th September, see complete list of holidays

This is an important update for those trading and investing in the Indian stock market. If you are waiting for the market to open on Monday, then let us tell you that on Monday, 14 September 2026, normal trading in Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) will be completely suspended.

The festival of Ganesh Chaturthi will be celebrated with great pomp across the country on September 14, to mark which the exchanges have declared an official trading holiday. After the weekly holiday of Saturday (September 12) and Sunday (September 13), investors and traders are getting a long weekend of 3 consecutive days due to the market being closed on Monday also.

Due to the holiday on 14th September, the operation of major segments of the stock market will be as follows:

• Equity and Derivatives Segment: There will be no buying and selling throughout the day in Equity (Cash Segment), Equity Derivatives (F&O) and SLB segments on NSE and BSE. Along with this, there will be no settlement process on this day.

• Commodity Market (MCX and BSE Commodity): Morning session (Morning Session: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm) will remain closed in Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) and BSE Commodity segment. However, the evening session (Evening Session: 5:00 PM to 11:30/11:55 PM) will continue as normal, allowing trading in gold, silver and crude oil in the evening.

After a long gap of three days, the stock market will open at its normal time on Tuesday, September 15, 2026:

• Pre-Opening Session: 9:00 am to 9:15 am.

• Regular trading session: 9:15 am to 3:30 pm.
