In the 18th match of IPL 2024, Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad will clash at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Before this exciting match, there is a shocking news for the fans. The matter pertains to Hyderabad Cricket Board (HCA) shutting down power supply due to non-payment of bills.
Electricity supply was cut before the match
A day before the IPL match, there was a power failure at Uppal Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TSSPDCL) disconnected power supply to the cricket stadium on the evening of Thursday, April 4, due to outstanding dues of over ₹3 crore. Following immediate court intervention, the Uppal Stadium management was served a notice from TSSPDCL. In which the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) was requested to immediately pay at least half of the total amount of ₹1.63 crore to the Discom. The court directed the electricity department to reconnect the power supply to the stadium immediately after successful payment of the first instalment.
The next match in Hyderabad will be important for both the sides as they will look to get back to winning ways. Pat Cummins's SRH have managed just one win in the three matches they have played so far, while CSK, under new captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, have made a more positive start to the tournament. He was handed the captaincy before the opening match against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
