Will the Finance Minister provide relief in hospital bills in the budget

Along with the new government in the country, preparations for the budget have also started. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has discussed the budget with many industry associations and states. After this, the full budget can now be presented during the monsoon session. The general public has a lot of expectations from this budget. The biggest thing is the medical expenses of the people and people want that they get relief in this budget.

These issues can become special in the budget

While the Finance Minister made important announcements for healthcare like prioritising Anganwadis and cervical cancer during the Interim Budget 2024, many long-standing expectations like rationalising GST and investment in healthcare are now expected to be fulfilled. Industry leaders hope that this issue will be addressed in the next budget.

Hospital bills are the biggest stress

The cost of hospital admission is still a concern for many. In May this year, the Supreme Court expressed displeasure at the government for not fixing fee limits for treatment in private hospitals and private clinics. The Bureau of Indian Standards has initiated efforts to increase standardization and transparency in hospital billing processes.

There's a lot of pressure on these people

If you do not have insurance, hospital expenses can be heavy on your pocket. In most cases, hospitals have different costs for self-billed patients and patients billed by the insurance company. Most people have to pay more than half the cost of treatment from their pocket. In such a situation, people expect from the government that they can get budgetary relief in hospital bills.

This scheme of the government has become helpful

On one hand, people are losing money due to expensive treatment in private hospitals, while on the other hand, people are getting help from the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Yojana. With the help of Ayushman Bharat card, the beneficiary can get treatment up to Rs 5 lakh in the hospital. This benefits the poor and economically weak people of the country. Now the President has announced that people above 70 years of age will also get its benefit.
