The lawyers of America’s newly elected President Donald Trump have appealed to the judge not to pronounce the sentence on January 10. In this case, Trump has been accused of paying porn stars to remain silent.
Trump will appear in court on January 10. Trump’s lawyers previously said they planned to challenge Judge Juan M. Merchan’s order last week in a state appeals court.
Justice Juan Mercant’s order means Trump will have to appear in court 10 days before his January 20 inauguration. Which is an unprecedented event in the history of America. No former or current US president has been accused or convicted of a crime before Trump.
New York Judge Juan Marchane indicated that he would not sentence Trump to jail or a fine, but would instead release him on conditions. He said in his order that the newly elected President can attend the hearing in person or virtually.
Trump spokesman Steven Cheung said in a statement that no punishment should be given in this case. The Constitution demands that this case be dismissed immediately.
Earlier, to dismiss the case against him, Trump had argued that he had won the election. He criticized the judge’s decision to extend the sentence.
