Politics has heated up across the country over the Waqf Board Amendment Bill. Now everyone's eyes are on Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu. These parties are with the Modi government at the center. But whether these two will support the NDA on the Waqf Board Bill or not, this question has now arisen after a statement.
It is being told that All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) President Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani claimed on Thursday that representatives of Muslim organizations have met Nitish Kumar and Chandrababu Naidu, in which both the leaders have assured that they will oppose the Waqf Amendment Bill.
If it is passed, we will protest
Rahmani also said that the Center should withdraw this bill and if this bill is presented in the Parliament for passing, then a nationwide movement will be launched against it and every battle will be fought within the ambit of law. Apart from Rahmani, Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind President Maulana Arshad Madani, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind's Amir Sadullah Hussaini, Markazi Jamiat Ahl Hadith President Maulana Asghar Ali Imam Mehdi Salafi, Personal Law Board General Secretary Maulana Fazlur Rahim Mujadidi and Personal Law Board spokesperson Syed Qasim Rasool were present. Ilyas was present.
Will other leaders support?
When asked if JDU and TDP leaders were also met and what is their stand, Rahmani said that we have met the leaders of various opposition forces. Chandrababu Naidu was also met and he has assured that he will oppose this bill. Nitish Kumar was also met on Wednesday and he has also assured that he will oppose it. Tejashwi Yadav was also met and he has also assured that he will oppose this bill.
According to the Personal Law Board chief, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray) president Uddhav Thackeray said that the government will not be allowed to touch the Waqf. He said that many other secular parties and NDA allies have also assured to oppose this bill.
Is this a matter of justice and injustice?
When asked about his meeting with Nitish Kumar and Naidu, Rahmani said that we will not be able to tell about this in the area. We have met them. This is not a Hindu Muslim issue, it is an issue of justice and injustice. Therefore, we want all secular forces including BJP allies to support us keeping in mind justice and secularism.
Let us tell you here that this press conference was held on the day when the first meeting of the Joint Committee of Parliament was held on the Waqf Amendment Bill. Jamiat President Arshad Madani alleged that the matter is not just about Waqf but the issue is about the freedom given to minorities in the Constitution of India against which the present government is working. He said that today's government does not want to let the minorities and their religion remain safe. We oppose the approach adopted by the government. Every minority is united in the matter of Waqf.
