New Delhi: Ford has recently registered a design patent in India for the all-new Endeavor to be sold in the international markets. After the last-minute cancellation of the deal to sell the Chennai plant to JW Group, speculation about its re-entry has intensified. The US auto major is also expected to hire employees for various jobs. Let us know the complete news.
Will Ford Endeavor make a comeback?
The brand relied on domestic sales as well as exports from India using its large production plant in Marmalai Nagar, but it could not meet the expected volume figures. In a major blow to the entire industry, Ford has pulled out of local sales at the end of 2021. Tata Motors has completed the acquisition of Ford's plant in Sanand through a subsidiary in early 2023.
It looks like Ford will sell the next-generation Endeavor with a CBU in 2025. After some time, production of Ford Endeavor may start in India. Along with this, Mustang Mach-E will also enter the Indian market, the company has also trademarked its name.
However, it is not yet clear whether the trademark application is a clear indication of the intention to re-enter India. Ford could use the homologation waiver and bring the Mustang Mach-E through the CBU channel. It is sold in rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations with 72 kWh and 91 kWh battery pack options in global markets.
Features of Mustang Mach-E
The base Mach-E is capable of producing 269 hp and 430 Nm, while the larger battery pack version is capable of producing 294 hp and 530 Nm. Its driving range is claimed to be up to 600 km on a single charge. It is not yet known which variants will be offered in India, but expect the top-spec GT AWD with 487 hp and 850 Nm to be the favourite. Its claimed range is 489 km.
