Gurmeet Ram Rahim demands parole: Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim has demanded parole for 20 days before the Haryana Assembly elections. The Dera spokesperson said, since Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh is entitled to provisional release for 91 days in a calendar year, his request for 20 days parole is in accordance with the law. Dera chief Gurmeet Singh, who was serving life imprisonment in Rohtak's Sunaria jail on charges of rape and murder, got 30 days leave for the first time on June 17, 2022.

After this, he was released from jail for the second time on 15 October, for the third time on 21 January 2023, for the fourth time on 3 March, for the fifth time on 20 August and for the sixth time on 13 December.
