These schools are running successfully in all the other states of India, then why is Tamil Nadu being kept away from it?” On this, the ASG argued that high level talks are going on on this subject, hence the government is still refraining from giving a final statement.

The legal representative of Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti told the bench that under the previous judicial order, the state had to allot land in 6 weeks, but now they are asking for additional time of 12 weeks. On this, the court fixed the next hearing of the case on August 11, 2026 and gave 3 weeks time to the Tamil Nadu government to get instructions. Referring to the new political equations in Tamil Nadu, Justice Nagarathna, who was leading the bench, said, “We have to allow instruction to be taken. Now there is a new government (Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam – TVK) in power. We are not yet aware of their official education policy. You may have your own local education system, but do not completely stop the entry of excellent central government schools into Tamil Nadu.”
