Junaid Khan: Recently the Indian cricket team has got many star fast bowlers. In which many players from Jasprit Bumrah to Mayank Yadav have been included in the team. In the current Irani Cup, Mumbai team has established its dominance by defeating all the teams. But during this tournament, a fast bowler of this team captained by Ajinkya Rahane has attracted everyone's attention. The name of that bowler is Junaid Khan.
Junaid Khan, a resident of Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh, came to Mumbai to support his family. In an attempt to find a job, he first got the opportunity to work in a garment factory. Apart from this, he used to drive auto rickshaw even when he was a minor. But luck changed and he returned to the world of cricket. And his journey has brought him to the Irani Cup. This match was the biggest match of his career. He created a sensation by taking the wicket of Rest of India captain Ruturaj Gaikwad.
In an interview, Junaid said, 'When I was told before the match that I would play my first match for Mumbai and that too in the Irani Cup, I could not sleep at all. The wicket was a bonus. Reaching here is like a dream come true for me. Junaid got a chance to bowl only one innings. Mumbai team could not bowl in the second innings.
Junaid once attended Sanjeev's cricket academy when he was working as an auto rickshaw driver in Mumbai. It is run by former Mumbai wicketkeeper and batsman Manish Bangra. Junaid has played most of the matches so far with tennis balls. In the academy he was asked to run and after that he started bowling. Bangara also encouraged him to continue bowling. But there were many challenges before him.
Junaid further said, 'I did not have money to buy shoes to play cricket, but many people helped me and encouraged me to play. Another dramatic turn came in Junaid's life. Abhishek Nair, the current assistant coach of the Indian cricket team, saw Junaid playing for PJ Hindu Gymkhana in the Police Shield. Abhishek was very impressed with his performance. Junaid once again impressed everyone with his bowling during the Buchi Babu and KSCA tournaments. Because of this, the selectors included him in the Mumbai team for the Irani Cup.
Junaid considers Indian cricket team's fast bowler Mohammed Shami as his idol. Shami is also a resident of Uttar Pradesh. And play for West Bengal. Similarly, Junaid is from Uttar Pradesh. And play for Mumbai.
