Bhopal, 20 November (HS). The wild elephant management study team of forest officials from Madhya Pradesh reached Karnataka on Wednesday. On the first day, the study team had a detailed discussion with Dr. Manoj Kumar, APCCF (Project Elephant), Karnataka State, to know the best practices implemented by the Karnataka Forest Department for Human-Elephant Conflict (HEC) management.
The study team from Madhya Pradesh visited Banderghatta National Park in Bengaluru. During this, Prabhakar Priyadarshi, DCF, Banderghatta National Park, Bengaluru, gave field-based information to the team about various HEC mitigation measures. He briefed the study team regarding various field strategies like elephant control rooms, monitoring rooms besides railway barriers, solar fences, hanging tentacle fences and advanced alert creatures. The Madhya Pradesh study team also interacted with ETF staff and RRT members, which provided the study team with important information about wild elephant management in Karnataka.
