Controversy has erupted over Larsen & Toubro Chairman SN Subramanian’s advice of working 90 hours a week. Social media and celebrities are reacting to this, and now Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra has also shared his views. He said in an event that he believes in the quality of work, not its quantity.
Mahindra said, “I respect Narayana Murthy and others very much, but I think this debate is going in the wrong direction. We should focus on quality of work, not working hours.” He also said that a person’s output even in 10 hours is important.
Mahindra explained that a person’s mind must be connected to holistic thinking to take the right decisions. He explained the importance of studying art and culture, saying that it can help a person make better decisions. He gave the example that building a car requires understanding the needs of the family. If we’re always in the office, we won’t be able to understand what customers want.
Let us tell you that Subramanian had asked his employees to work 90 hours a week and also work on Sundays, due to which the debate on work-life balance has again intensified. He also said, “How long can you stare at your wife?” This controversial statement has again drawn attention to workplace culture.
