Darjeeling, 30 September (Hindustan Reporter). The joint platform of labor organizations has called for a 12-hour strike on Monday demanding 20 percent bonus for tea garden workers. The effect of which is visible from plains to Darjeeling since morning. Since morning, no vehicle is being allowed to climb the mountain via Siliguri. At the same time, no vehicle is coming to Siliguri from Darjeeling either. Only essential vehicles are being allowed to come and go.

It is noteworthy that a tripartite meeting was held in Siliguri on Sunday in demand of puja bonus of tea garden workers. In the meeting, the plantation management said that they would not be able to pay the 20 percent bonus. After this, the joint platform of labor organizations called for a 12-hour strike on Monday. Its effect is visible at various places including Darjeeling, Sukna, Rohini, Kurshiang from 6 am in the morning. Whereas demonstrations are also being organized by the organization at many places.
