The purpose of opening the Ratna Bhandar after 46 years is to store jewellery, precious items and renovate the store. However, it will take time to make a complete list of what items were taken out from the Ratna Bhandar. According to a report, the Ratna Bhandar contains precious gold and diamond jewellery offered to God. The Ratna Bhandar has two rooms. These contain inner and outer treasures.

Chief Administrator of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Arvind Padhi said three keys to the outer chamber of the Ratna Bhandar were available and the keys to the inner chamber were missing.

According to Odisha Patrika, the outer treasure includes a gold crown of Lord Jagannath and three gold necklaces. The inner vault contains around 74 gold ornaments, each weighing around 100 tolas. It also has ornaments made of gold, silver, diamonds, coral and pearls.
