New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has appealed in the Supreme Court against the arrest made by ED. During the hearing of which the Supreme Court asked tough questions to the ED and asked why did you arrest Kejriwal before the Lok Sabha elections? No document, material or evidence has been seized regarding Kejriwal's involvement, if seized please present it to us. Along with this, the Supreme Court said that along with life, personal freedom is also very important.
The bench of Supreme Court Justice Sanjeev Khanna and Justice Dipankar Dutta asked these questions to Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, appearing for the ED. The bench said that the life and liberty of a person is very important and you cannot deny it. Why was Kejriwal arrested before the Lok Sabha elections? No confiscation action has been taken so far in this case. If any has been seized then present it before us and tell us what does Kejriwal have to do with the seized material?
Citing the example of the case of former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, the Supreme Court questioned that the ED had said that material has been seized against Sisodia, however, no material has been presented before us in Kejriwal's case. Also answer us why there is such a huge gap between arrest and actual action in this case? Answers to all these questions should be available by Friday. Kejriwal was arrested on March 21 in the Delhi excise policy scam. After which he has been sent to Tihar Jail in Delhi. Kejriwal has appealed to the Supreme Court challenging the arrest, the Supreme Court had issued a notice to the ED on April 15. Earlier the High Court had justified the arrest. However, the Supreme Court has asked tough questions from the ED. Now further hearing will take place after ED's reply.

1 Can you initiate criminal proceedings without judicial proceedings?
2 There has been no seizure in the cases yet, if yes then explain and answer how Kejriwal is involved in this?
3 There are two parts of the verdict in Sisodia's case, one in his favor and one not in his favor, in which part does Kejriwal's case fall?
4 Why is there such a difference between initiating proceedings and prosecuting without arrest?
5 Why did you arrest Kejriwal before the Lok Sabha elections?
