Menopause is a natural biological process in which a woman's menstrual cycle stops completely.
This usually occurs between the ages of 45 and 55. During menopause, the level of a hormone called estrogen, which plays a very important role in a woman's body, decreases.
Women are more likely to develop osteoporosis than men due to hormonal reasons. Osteoporosis is a disease in which bones become weak.
Estrogen hormone levels decrease during menopause. Specifically, the estrogen hormone strengthens bones by increasing calcium absorption and preventing bone loss. But when this hormone starts decreasing, the bones start becoming weak.
To prevent osteoporosis after menopause, it is important that women take care of their eating habits from an early age. Therefore, include calcium-rich foods in your diet, such as dairy products, green leafy vegetables and other fortified foods. Apart from this, take special care of Vitamin D also.
Exercise is also important. It helps in maintaining balance and strengthening bones. For this, do exercises like dancing, walking or strength training. Apart from this, also avoid alcohol and smoking.
