Why should one not wear clothes and jewelery of a deceased person? Know the big reason behind this

Many important rules related to life and death are mentioned in Garuda Purana. One of these rules is that we should not use the clothes and jewelery of a dead person. We often keep and wear items of our relatives in memory of them or because they are valuable. But according to the scriptures it is not at all appropriate to do so.

There are both religious and practical reasons behind not using items of dead relatives. Know why we should maintain distance from those things.

passion and energy of the soul

  • Even after death, the soul’s attachment to its beloved objects does not end quickly.
  • Garuda Purana says that humans are very attached to their clothes and jewellery.
  • When a person leaves this world, his soul wanders around his family and belongings for some time.
  • If another person wears those clothes, the soul of the deceased person starts getting attracted towards him.
  • This prevents the soul from attaining liberation. It remains trapped in the bondage of illusion.

effect of negativity

  • Every person has energy in his body.
  • When a person becomes ill or dies, his negative energy increases.
  • That negative energy gets absorbed into the clothes worn by the deceased person.
  • If you wear the same clothes again, that energy can enter your body.
  • As a result, the person starts experiencing mental stress.
  • He has strange dreams and can be irritable by nature.
  • Therefore, these things should be avoided for health and peace of mind.

What is the reason behind this jewellery?

  • Jewelry lasts longer than clothing. People think that jewelry is precious, so keep it in a safe or wear it.
  • According to Garuda Purana, jewelery of a deceased person also contains his energy and memories.
  • Wearing this jewelery directly can make you mentally weak.
  • However, a solution has been suggested regarding jewelery also.
  • You can melt down that piece of jewelry and give it a new look, or you can sell it and buy something new.
  • Doing this can destroy old energy.

Burden of memories:
When we repeatedly see or wear an item of a deceased relative, our mind becomes sad. We get trapped in the whirlpool of old memories. This situation prevents us from moving forward in life.

Man always remains immersed in grief. Garu Purana teaches us that we should bid farewell to the departed souls respectfully. Instead of spreading misery by hoarding our things, we should use them for the welfare of others. In this lies the welfare of both the living and the dead.

Now the question arises what to do with these clothes, utensils or jewellery. According to Garun Purana, the clothes of the deceased should be donated to the needy. By donating, the soul gets peace and attains virtue.

Keep in mind that donation should always be done selflessly. If the clothes are very old or in bad condition, they should be immersed in a holy river or buried in the ground. In this way, proper funeral will take place and there will be peace and happiness in the house.
