Why is Veer Bal Diwas celebrated only on 26 December? History is linked to the atrocities of the Mughals?

Veer Bal Diwas 2024: Veer Bal Diwas is celebrated every year on 26 December in India. This day is dedicated to the bravery and sacrifice of the four sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, especially Nana Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh. On this day, tribute is paid to the two younger Sahibzadas of the tenth Guru of the Sikhs, Guru Gobind Singh Ji, Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh. Who sacrificed his life at a young age to protect religion and principles. Zorawar was only 9 years old and Fateh was only 6 years old when they were martyred.

Guru Gobind Singh’s sons Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh were martyred on 26 December 1705.

PM Modi announced

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that in 2022, Veer Bal Diwas will be celebrated on 26 December to commemorate the martyrdom of Sahibjado Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh. This announcement was made on January 9 on the birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh Ji.

Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh Guru, had four sons. Ajit Singh, Juzar Singh, Zorawar Singh and Fateh Singh. In 1699 he founded the Khalsa sect with his sons. By 1705 Punjab was under Mughal rule, and they tried to capture Guru Gobind Singh.

Caught because of the betrayal of a faithful servant

Zorawar Singh and Fateh Singh were captured by Wazir Khan, the Mughal governor of Sirhind. He was offered protection if he converted to Islam, but he refused to give up his religion. He was ultimately hanged for remaining steadfast in his faith. During this period, Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s family had to face many difficulties. He was captured due to the betrayal of one of his trusted servants, Gangu.

Khalsa Panth was established in 1699

Guru Gobind Singh founded the Khalsa sect in 1699. Baba Ajit Singh and Baba Juzar Singh were martyred in the battle against the Mughals. Meanwhile, Nawab Wazir Khan subjected Mother Gujri and her young sons to terrible tortures. Despite the pressure to convert, he stuck to his religion.
