News India Live, Digital Desk: Whenever there is talk of Gods and Goddesses in Sanatan Dharma, the word ’33 Koti’ is mentioned first. Often people mistake it for ’33 crores’, whereas in the scriptures its meaning is completely different. But have you ever noticed that the name of Hanuman, the son of the wind, who is the awakened god of Kalyug and the destroyer of the troubles of the devotees, is not included in the list of these 33 crore gods? Why is this so? Let us know the spiritual and mythological logic behind this mystery.
Real meaning of 33 crores: Are there really crores of gods?
First of all, it is important to remove the confusion that has spread in the society regarding the word ’33 Koti’. According to Sanskrit grammar, ‘Koti’ means ‘Types’, not ‘Crore’. According to the scriptures, these 33 types of gods include 12 Aditya, 11 Rudra, 8 Vasu and 2 Ashwini Kumar. These are the main energies that play an important role in the functioning of the universe. But the question remains that if these are the main deities, then why Mahavir Hanuman did not become a part of this list?
Hanuman ji’s special form and the highest peak of devotion
According to religious scholars and mythological texts, the form of Hanuman ji is completely different from other gods. He is not just a deity, but the greatest symbol of devotion, power and selfless service. Hanuman ji’s entire existence is dedicated to Lord Shri Ram. In the scriptures he has been defined as ‘Ram Doot’ and ‘Ram Bhakt’. His glory cannot be limited to any category or calculation, because he has established himself as a ‘Bhakta’, who is far above any rank or title.
Included in 8 Chiranjeevis and part incarnation of Shiva
A big reason for Hanuman ji not being in this list is his being ‘Chiranjeevi’. He is among those 8 great men who are blessed with immortality. Among the eight Chiranjeevis, Hanuman ji’s name comes along with Ashwatthama, King Bali, Maharishi Vyas, Vibhishan, Kripacharya, Parshuram and Markandeya Rishi. Being an incarnation of Lord Shiva, he himself is the form of Rudra, but his special identity is as the giver of ‘Ashta Siddhi and Navnidhi’. Due to the boon of immortality given by Shri Ram and his actual residence on Gandhamadan mountain in Kaliyuga, his place is considered more divine than any list.
Bajrangbali is the bridge between God and devotee.
According to mythological beliefs, the importance of Hanuman ji does not depend on whether he is included in the list of 33 crore deities or not. They work as an unbreakable bridge between God and the devotee. He has not been called ‘God of Gods’, but ‘Shiromani of devotees’. This is why his place is considered to be outside the circle of 33 crore gods and much higher than them. He is such a power that is still present on this earth in an alert state to protect his devotees.
