The father of the victim child visited many hospitals but no one treated the innocent child. The child died due to lack of treatment. Many parents were scared about this incident.

Why is rabies dangerous?

The doctor said that rabies is a disease that damages our central nervous system, sometimes it can prove fatal. Rabies literally means 'madness'. It is spread not only by the bites of dogs but also by the bites of many wild carnivorous animals. Not only humans but many warm-blooded animals are also sensitive to it.

How does the rabies virus spread?

Rabies virus is present in the salivary glands of dogs and many other animals. When a dog bites a human, the virus enters the body through the bloodstream and then reaches the brain and affects the central nervous system. It then spreads to the person's salivary glands and produces foam in the mouth. This virus can show its color anytime between 10 days to 8 months.

Effects of rabies virus on humans

A bite from a dog or animal suffering from rabies can cause problems like headache, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, nausea and muscle stiffness. The throat muscles of the victim become paralyzed, due to which he becomes unable to swallow water, which is why he becomes a victim of hydrophobia i.e. fear of water. Not only this, it also causes death of the person due to breathlessness and heart attack.

What is the treatment for rabies?

There is no sure cure for rabies, but it can be avoided by taking some precautions. After a dog bite, you should clean the wound immediately so that it does not spread to the rest of the body. Apart from this, you will have to give anti-rabies serum within 24 hours, this injection gives antibodies prepared against the antigen. If there is a delay in giving serum then it is difficult to save life. Apart from this, it is important to give anti-rabies injection to pet dogs so that if they bite someone, its effect is not so dangerous.
