Why is Boycott India campaign going on in Bangladesh

Bangladesh is once again running a campaign against India. Boycott India campaign is being run by some groups.Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said against this campaign that first burn the sarees of your wives. Now his statement has come into discussion.

An anti-India campaign has been launched by the opposition party Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in Bangladesh. Now the question is why is this anti-India campaign being carried out?

While the Bangladesh government maintains friendly relations with India, the opposition wants to eliminate India's influence in Bangladesh by running anti-India campaigns like in Maldives.

The opposition alleges that Sheikh Hasina has been winning continuously for the last 15 years only because of India's interference.

The frustration of the opposition parties is at its peak after Sheikh Hasina's party won 223 out of 300 seats in the general elections held on January 7, 2024. On the other hand, China, troubled by the increasing influence of India, is also adding fuel to the fire.

Anti-India movements have increased significantly in Bangladesh in the last decade. Even after India's defeat in the final match of Cricket World Cup 2023, anti-India slogans were raised and celebrations were held at many places including Dhaka.

Under this campaign, boycott of Indian goods and anti-Hindu atmosphere is being created in Bangladesh.
