It is believed that worship is done in honor of the gods and goddesses and worship done on a special occasion or at a specific time is also acceptable to the gods. There are some special rules related to this which are followed in Hinduism.
One rule of such worship is that worship should not be done during the afternoon. It is believed that worshiping during the afternoon is not acceptable to the gods. To know this, we asked Narada Sanchar astrologer Anil Jain why worship should not be done during the afternoon.
Importance of Puja in Hinduism
In Hinduism, Puja is considered one of the essential processes of the day. By doing this, the mind becomes calm and one gets inspiration to move forward. By doing Puja, the mind gets peace and there is an atmosphere of peace in the house as well.
Puja is an event that involves offering flowers, burning incense and eating food. Reading shlokas while performing puja brings peace to the mind. Puja helps you follow a certain routine.
Best time to worship
According to Vedic scriptures, morning time is considered the best time to perform Puja. This is because at this time both the body and mind are pure and we can completely focus on God. The Puja performed at this time goes directly to God and helps in purifying the mind. According to Jyotish Shastra, Puja can be performed 5 times a day.
- First Puja- in Brahma Muhurta between 4:30 to 5:00 in the morning
- Second Puja by 9am
- Midday Puja – 12 noon
- Evening Puja- between 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM
- Shayan Puja – 9:00 pm
- However, it is difficult to worship 5 times a day amidst the busy lifestyle, so meditating on God at least twice a day can save you from difficulties.
Why should we not worship God in the afternoon?
According to the rules of astrology, the time between 12 noon and 3 pm is considered to be the resting time for the gods and if worship is done at this time, then the full benefits of worship are not achieved. Also, this time is called Abhijeet Muhurta and it is considered to be the time of ancestors. For this reason, there is no provision for worshiping gods and goddesses in this special period.
