Why did Speaker Om Birla hit the Congress MP?

Om Birla's anger on Congress MP: The first session of Parliament is going on after the Lok Sabha elections. On the fourth day of the first session of Parliament, after the President's address, Speaker Om Birla got angry at Congress MP Deepender Singh Hooda. Speaker Om Birla reprimanded Deepender Hooda. This incident happened when Congress' Shashi Tharoor, elected from Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha seat, was returning after taking oath as MP. After taking the oath, Shashi Tharoor raised the slogan Jai Samvidhaan.

What happened

On the fourth day of the Parliament session, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor mentioned the Constitution after taking the oath of the post of MP. After taking the oath, when Shashi Tharoor was returning to his seat after shaking hands with Speaker Om Birla, the Speaker stopped him. Speaker Om Birla said that he is taking the oath of the Constitution. This is the oath of the Constitution. On this statement of the Speaker, Congress MP Deepender Hooda stood up and said that Sir, you should not have objected to this.

On this, Speaker Om Birla reprimanded Deepender Hooda and said that do not give advice on who has objection and who does not have any objection. Let's sit down. Now Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has objected to this by posting on the social media platform X. Priyanka posted on X and asked in a questioning tone whether 'Jai Samvidhaan' cannot be said in the Parliament of India? Expressing displeasure over the objections of the Speaker, she wrote – People of the ruling party were not stopped from raising unparliamentary and unconstitutional slogans in the Parliament, but when an opposition MP said 'Jai Samvidhaan', objection was raised.

Priyanka Gandhi did not stop here. She further wrote that the anti-constitution movement that emerged during the elections is now emerging in a new form which wants to weaken our Constitution. Priyanka Gandhi further said that the Constitution by which the Parliament runs, the Constitution by which every member takes oath, the Constitution by which every citizen gets life and security, will that same Constitution be opposed?
