Mumbai: The Maharashtra government has formed a technical committee of engineers, IIT experts and naval officers to investigate the reasons behind the collapse of Shivaji Maharaj's statue in Sindhudurg district of coastal Konkan region. Apart from this, a committee has also been formed to build a new statue of Shivaji.

The Indian Navy issued a statement saying that the project to install the statue of Martyr Shivaji was conceived and supervised by it, while the funds for the project were provided by the state government.
