Why did Modi's game get spoiled in UP, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Bengal? BJP's seats got halved

The results of this Lok Sabha election have been surprising for BJP because Narendra Modi has not been able to do any special miracle. BJP had dreamed of crossing 400 but it could not even cross 300. BJP did get the majority but in many places the lotus which was supposed to bloom for BJP did not bloom and proved to be surprising.

But the simple and clear thing to understand is that these 4 states, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and West Bengal have forced the formation of the Indian Coalition Government under the leadership of Narendra Modi which was considered invincible.

BJP's seats halved in 5 years

Actually, the total number of Lok Sabha seats in these 4 states is 195. In 2014, the BJP won 121 of these four states on its own, which increased to 127 in the last general election (2019), but the 2024 election was different. This time the performance of the BJP in these states is exactly half of its previous performance.

The party managed to win only 68 seats in these states, which is only 35 percent of the total seats. In the last two elections, BJP had won about 60 to 65 percent of the total seats in these 4 states. In the last election, when BJP lost seats in Uttar Pradesh, it performed well in West Bengal and crossed the 300 mark, but this time it could not happen.

Uttar Pradesh SP left BJP behind

BJP, which won 62 seats in the state in the last general election, has come down to 32 this time. This means that BJP has lost almost half of its seats. Samajwadi Party has gained the most. It has become the number 1 party in the state and has reached the figure of 37.

Maharashtra BJP could not even get double seat

After Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra (48 seats) is the state that sends the most number of MPs to Delhi. BJP, which is contesting the elections here in alliance with 3 parties, has suffered a major setback. BJP fielded its candidates on 28 seats. Only one-third of the party's candidates have won.

BJP, which had won 23 seats in the last two elections, could not even reach double digits this time. Congress has benefited the most from BJP's defeat in Maharashtra. Congress has reached 13 seats from 1 seat. People are surprised that how did Congress achieve this feat even after contesting elections on just 17 seats?

Shocking results in Bengal

Perhaps the one state from which the Bharatiya Janata Party had the most expectations in this election was West Bengal. The BJP, which had performed brilliantly in North and West India in the last election, is not in a position to repeat it this time. It wanted to do something amazing in the states of East and South India.

Disappointing because in this election year, West Bengal was the state where Narendra Modi focused the most. He held a rally in every second seat here. Despite having half the number of seats compared to Uttar Pradesh, Modi held the same number of rallies and claimed that the BJP will perform the best in West Bengal this time. But this did not happen. The BJP which was trying to win at least 30 seats has been reduced to 12. This is 6 less than its previous performance.

Rajasthan: BJP is far away from a clean sweep

The party which formed the majority government in the assembly elections held in December was confident of a clean sweep in the state once again, but Rajasthan surprised everyone.

Narendra Modi's BJP, which won 25 out of 25 seats in 2014, had to be content with 14 seats this time, 1 seat less than in 2019. By winning 11 seats, the Congress-led Bharat Alliance broke the notion that Congress cannot defeat BJP if there is a direct contest between BJP and Congress.

Let us tell you that after the poor performance of BJP in these states, the party has emerged as the largest party and NDA has secured majority for the third time. But will BJP be able to form the government easily this time? Even if you form it, will you take it away? It is difficult to say.
